Sculpture Shoot - Icarus Bronzes from Nicola Godden

Recently I had the pleasure of photographing 3 beautiful sculptures by renowned artist Nicola Godden.  Nicola creates fantastic bronze figures and at the moment is in her 'Icarus mood'.Over the years Nicola has done a number of commissions for property companies including Berkeley Homes who, along with the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust (WWT), commissioned her to produce the seven foot statue of the late Sir Peter Scott with two Bewick Swans for the wetlands centre at Barnes in London. The Peter Scott bronze sculpture was unveiled by David Attenborough in 2000.Her sculpture of Icarus was at the Olympic Village in 2012. It stood at 3.5 meters high and subsequently sold at a Sotheby’s auction. Icarus is one of Nicola's current passions, with 8 in the series so far and she is also working on ideas coming from sparks of light and flame. My very recent involvement was a commission to create promotional photos for three Icarus's which Nicola brought into my studio. My first step was to create 'catalogue' photos, white backgrounds with plenty of angles, with the thought of auction photos and my second to think in terms of warmer images for gallery use.I did also look for some closer shots; picking out some detail and producing a little drama.Great form, texture and colours to work with; I was sorry to part with them!
