TV Presenter Headshots

It was a pleasure to be commissioned by Chloe Marshall from shopping channel TJC to update her headshots; with her husband in tow they were both good company for the shoot.

There wasn’t much of a brief, except that the photos would be used online, on the TV and also as prints for autographed copies, which for me was a signal to cover a few bases. Regardless of your business I am a fan of the classic white background headshot as your anchor photo. How you’re posed or framed in the photo is less impartant (provided you look good!) than actually having the image.

Having a white background offers the photo for varied uses and platforms. It won’t clash with branding, can overlay with text very well and helps web and graphic designers when they want to create a themed background. It’s especially useful when different team members have had their photos done by different photographers, helping towards a consistent brand style (caveat though, not all the headshots will necessarily look alike but at least the backgrounds should match!).

We started with the white background. The booked time didn’t allow for really extensive variation but we did move to grey and black backgrounds with different poses and seating. I especially favour my ‘Christine Keeler Chair’ which gives my sitter a comfortable seated position and a chair back for those ‘where do I put my arms?’ questions. The sweeping design allows for a chair straddle without pressuring the thighs.

Chloe was brilliant. Although stills are not her day job, being an anchor sales person on a shopping channel means being in front of a TV camera, Chloe worked the camera perfectly. And this was after an exhausting 11 day stint! She looks fantastic. This was Chlos’s first choice…
